Job Description

POSITION
Special Education Teacher
  • Education Diagnostician
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD
185 days beginning 2026-2027 school year
SALARY:
As Set by the Board of School Trustees
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Ed Degree
  • Master's Degree preferred, but not required Special Education Teacher
  • Educational Diagnostician Educational Evaluation Process Initiates and completes the Educational Evaluation Referral Packet, ensuring all required components are submitted to the Special Education Office by Day 4.
Complies all required documentation, including: State and local assessment results Intervention data and progress-monitoring information (including Rate of Improvement) Teacher and classroom input Attendance records Report cards Behavioral data Relevant medical information Supports the school psychologist in completing all components of the education evaluation. Administers assigned assessments with fidelity and in accordance with standardized procedures (e.g., KTEA, Vineland). Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with the school psychologist throughout the evaluation process. Coordinates and schedules assessment sessions, securing appropriate testing locations and ensuring minimal disruption to the student's instructional day. Conducts both general and systematic classroom observations as required. Teacher of Record (TOR) Responsibilities During Evaluation Fulfills all TOR responsibilities throughout the evaluation process Develops the initial IEP or revises the existing IEP based on evaluation outcomes. Collaborates with the building TOR to develop IEP goals, services, and accommodations. Participates in evaluation team meetings and case conferences in the capacity of TOR. Issues the Notice of Case Conference in accordance with legal and procedural requirements. Teacher of Record Assignments Serves as Teacher of Record for the following programs and placements: Non-public school
  • consultative services (ISP) Homeschool Students
  • consultative services (ISP) YCS Virtual Academy
  • direct special education services (IEP) YCS Alternate placements
  • direct special education services (IEP) Other, as assigned Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Student Services and Assessment
