Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a highly impactful role as a High School Intensive Special Education Teacher supporting students with significant needs. This full-time contract opportunity provides the chance to nurture growth and facilitate success in an inclusive, engaging high school environment. You'll collaborate with colleagues dedicated to empowering every learner and enjoy stability with a 37.5-hour workweek as a valued W-2 employee.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Kansas licensure in low-incidence Special Education for grades 6-12
  • Demonstrated experience working with high school students in intensive or specialized settings
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Effective classroom management and individualized instructional skills
  • Collaborative approach with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to fostering student independence and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver tailored curriculum for students with low-incidence disabilities
  • Develop, review, and update IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Assess student progress, modify instruction, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Coordinate with general education teachers and related service providers
  • Engage in professional development to remain current on best practices
  • Support transitions and promote life skills for post-secondary success
  • Foster a safe, compassionate, and motivating classroom atmosphere
