Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Take your passion for supporting students to a new level in a contract role as a Special Education Teacher. This opportunity offers a dynamic, itinerant assignment covering various private parochial and partner school campuses in the Kansas City area from August 2026 through May 2027. You'll make a significant difference as you travel between locations, building meaningful relationships with both students and staff, while tailoring your expertise to diverse educational settings.
Qualifications:
Active Kansas K-12 teaching license in Special Education (required) Prior experience in special education settings (preferred) Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills Ability to adapt to multiple school environments and student needs Reliable transportation to travel between assigned schools and campuses
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support services to students with special needs in accordance with their IEPs Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and families to create the best learning outcomes Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, provide input into IEP development, and implement individualized goals Maintain clear and timely documentation on student progress and compliance with state and federal guidelines Adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to ensure inclusion and accommodate diverse learning needs across various schools Serve as a resource and advocate for students and parents within each educational community This itinerant SPED teaching role allows you to broaden your impact and develop your professional skills as you meet the unique challenges of multiple campuses.
