The Gifted Facilitator is an instructor of students with needs and is responsible for the collaborative development of individual education plans and services in the building(s) assigned. To accomplish this task, the Gifted Facilitator must work closely with students, parents, general and special education staff, and general and special education administration. Responsible to: The Director and Associate Director of Special Education, and Principal Payment rate: According to the negotiated agreementQualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university. Current Gifted Kansas State Teaching Certificate on file in the Central Office or ability to obtain a waiver TB certificate on file in the Central Office. Desire to continue career improvement. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of interlocal prescribed computer-based reporting systems.Essential Functions:
Support an optimal learning environment in all educational settings. Ensure building level special education programs and activities conform to federal, state and interlocal guidelines. Communicate effectively with students, parents, paraeducators, related service providers, general education providers, and the districts and special education administrative staff. Collaborate effectively with public and private agencies, community organizations, and general education providers. Exhibit good time management and flexibility in scheduling. Support the mission and the goals of the special education interlocal. React to change productively. Complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner as required by law.Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires prolonged sitting, standing. Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and carrying. May require extensive travel and requires the ability to drive. Must work in a variety of environments including loud and crowded locations. Must tolerate emotional stress.General Responsibilities:
Adhere to all local, state, and federal legal mandates related to the development and implementation of individual education plans. Support the mission and goals of the special education interlocal. Assist in planning appropriate individual education plans to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. Participate in the problem-solving process for all students. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences. Assure parents of children with special needs are active participants in the evaluation, program development and program implementation for their child. Assure general education providers are encouraged to actively participate in the development of individual education plans for children and youth with special needs. Develop goals and objective/benchmarks which clearly define student growth in relation to the general curriculum. Assist curriculum consultants, classroom instructors, general education support personnel (Title I, grant programs, etc.) and administrators in planning and implementing activities to meet the needs of special students. Promote the continued provision of educational services in the home school environment. Assist with referral of students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services. Assist with assessment, evaluation and reevaluation of children and youth with special needs. Maintain appropriate, confidential student records and provide timely reports. Train, supervise, and evaluate paraeducators assigned to assist with student education plan implementation. Adhere to all interlocal safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques. Other duties as assigned by the special education administration.Position Type:
