Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a pivotal role helping high school students succeed as an Intensive Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a lasting difference while enjoying a rewarding, supportive setting at the secondary level. Your expertise will guide students with low-incidence disabilities in developing essential academic, social, and life skills. You'll collaborate closely with dedicated colleagues, creating and adjusting individualized education plans that foster growth and achievement.
Ideal candidates will have:
Valid KS low-incidence SPED licensure, appropriate for grades 6-12 Experience working with high school students in a special education setting Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) Ability to implement evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies Excellent communication and teamwork skills Dedication to building positive relationships with students, families, and staff Key responsibilities include: Delivering personalized instruction tailored to a range of learning and behavioral needs Creating, reviewing, and updating IEPs to meet student goals and regulatory requirements Assessing student progress and adjusting strategies for optimal development Collaborating with support staff, therapists, and general education teachers Advocating for students' needs while maintaining strong family engagement In addition to making a difference every day, you'll enjoy a steady, reliable routine with 37.5 hours per week and full-time hours.
