Full Job Description Purpose:
Provides aspiring educators with structured, paid, hands-on classroom experience while completing coursework toward teacher licensure. Supports the development of instructional skills, classroom management strategies, and professional competencies under the supervision of a certified mentor teacher.

Qualifications:
Enrolled in or have completed the Teaching and Training Career and Technical Education pathway, or actively enrolled in an accredited teacher preparation program. Demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in education. Maintain satisfactory academic progress, attendance, and job performance. Demonstrate aptitude or competence for executing the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with district expectations. Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Assist certified teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organization, and instructional activities. b. Provide support to students individually and in small groups. c. Supervise students and assist with classroom management under the direction of the mentor teacher. d. Observe effective instructional practices and participate in guided teaching experiences. e. Develop and deliver lessons and classroom activities appropriate to the apprentice's level of preparation. f. Maintain accurate timesheets, work logs, reflections, and other required program documentation. g. Participate in mentoring meetings, evaluations, and professional development activities. h. Attend staff meetings, parent conferences, and school events when appropriate. i. Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to district policies and procedures. j. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information in accordance with FERPA and district expectations. k. Utilize basic computer systems, educational technology, and student information systems as needed. l. Progress successfully through required coursework and apprenticeship competencies. 2.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. b. Requires the ability to move throughout classrooms and school buildings. c. Requires the ability to supervise students in a classroom setting with frequent interruptions. d. Requires the ability to lift and carry instructional materials up to 25 pounds. e. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and sit as needed. f. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
General Responsibilities:
Support a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment. b. Assist students in completing academic assignments and developing learning skills. c. Maintain required documentation and submit all program records in a timely manner. d. Participate actively in mentoring and reflective practice to improve instructional effectiveness. e. Maintain satisfactory progress in college coursework and apprenticeship requirements. f. Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and safety expectations. g. Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required. h. Other duties assigned by the building administrator or program coordinator that are consistent with the general requirements of the position.
