Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A full-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) position is available in New Orleans, LA for the upcoming school year. Blazer Jobs is partnering with local school districts to hire a skilled and compassionate educator dedicated to supporting students with visual impairments in accessing their education and building independence. About the
Role:
This school-based TVI role involves working with students across a K-12 caseload, often in an itinerant capacity across multiple campuses. The TVI will provide specialized instruction, adapt curriculum materials, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and services. You will play a key role in helping students develop academic, functional, and independent living skills while ensuring compliance with IEP goals and state guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Visual Impairments, Special Education, or related field Active Louisiana Department of Education certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) Knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technology preferred Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred Ability to pass background check and fingerprinting Strong collaboration, assessment, and communication skills
Job Duties:
Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA) Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Adapt classroom materials and instructional strategies for accessibility Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers Support development of independent living and mobility-related skills Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring
