Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This position is for a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving an itinerant caseload within schools located in the New Orleans, LA area. The role requires supporting students with visual impairments across multiple schools and adapting to varying environments and needs. The assignment runs from ASAP through May 22, 2026, aligned with the school calendar, Monday through Friday, typically 7 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are visually impaired Collaborate with school staff, families, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Conduct assessments and maintain detailed records on student progress Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual student needs Travel between assigned schools to deliver itinerant services efficientlyQualifications:
Active Louisiana Department of Education certification for Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required Ability and willingness to complete district-required drug screening and fingerprinting Prior experience working with visually impaired students preferred but not mandatory; all experience levels considered Strong communication and collaboration skills Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in an itinerant teaching roleWork Details:
Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday according to the school calendarLocation:
