Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a supportive educational setting near New Iberia, LA. This contract opportunity offers the chance to shape students' learning journeys and foster independence for those with visual impairments. You'll collaborate with dedicated staff and play a vital role in optimizing student success through personalized strategies and assistive technologies.
Desired Qualifications:
Current teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment Demonstrated ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Familiarity with adaptive and assistive technology relevant to visually impaired students Excellent communication and organization skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families Experience working in K-12 educational settings is preferred Ability to assess student needs and progress, adapting instruction for diverse learning levelsKey Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in group settings Collaborate closely with general education teachers and related service providers to support inclusive practices Develop and monitor progress on IEP goals, maintaining accurate records and documentation Recommend and train students and staff on the use of Braille, auditory materials, magnification devices, and other adaptive technologies Consult with families to promote learning strategies at home and support student achievement Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and legal requirements Enjoy the rewarding experience of empowering students to reach their fullest potential within a welcoming school environment.
