Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Break new ground in education as a specialized teacher supporting students with visual impairments. In this contract role, you'll work with students in a school-based setting, applying your expertise to foster independence and academic success. Your dedication will make a measurable difference in the lives of students and their families, ensuring everyone receives the tailored resources and instruction they need.
Skills & Qualifications:
Current teaching certification with specialization in Visual Impairment (TVI licensure) Proven experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in school settings Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum formats Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups Assess students to determine educational needs and appropriate adaptations Develop and deliver customized lesson plans that align with IEP goals Train staff and students on the use of assistive technology and Braille materials Consult with general education teachers and support teams to ensure curriculum accessibility Track student progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with district and state requirements Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development This contract opportunity offers the chance to work in a supportive environment where your specialized skills are truly valued.
