education curriculum School policy and procedure enforcement Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act in education Teaching engineering Standards-based curriculum development Instructional content development Classroom community building Constructive feedback (student motivation techniques) Specialization in creative arts instruction Providing feedback to students Full Job Description The Abington Middle School STEAM Teacher will be responsible for teaching our district STEAM curriculum in which students explore science, technology, engineering, and art in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
The ideal candidate:
Demonstrates a depth of content knowledge and understanding.

Designs lessons that accommodate multiple learning styles.

Aligns lesson objectives with school and state standards, as identified on curriculum maps.

Adapts curriculum/instruction/assessment in accordance with student IEPs and 504 plans.

Interacts respectfully with all students.

Holds all students accountable to high expectations for achievement and growth.

Establishes effective classroom routines and procedures.

Communicates clearly and effectively through speech and writing.

Incorporates questioning strategies to improve student thinking and learning.

Facilitates engaging and inclusive classroom discussion.

Varies instruction to accommodate different learning styles.

Embeds supports for Multilingual Learners in every lesson.

Provides ongoing, timely, and useful feedback to students.

Utilizes a variety of assessment strategies.

Maintains respectful, collegial, and collaborative relationships with colleagues/parents.

Seeks and participates in collaborative inquiry as professional development.

Adheres to and upholds school rules and procedures.

Fulfills basic professional responsibilities.

Contributes positively to the professional culture of the school.
