Collaborates with the classroom team to develop and implement classroom behavior management plans appropriately suited to the age and social/emotional levels of students.
Fosters positive self-esteem and the social growth of students through appropriate curriculums and behavioral structures.
Monitors, observes, and maintains data on IEP goals and objectives.
Participates in supervision with the educational supervisor and other members of the classroom team (i.e., assistant teacher, milieu counselor).Writes IEP and Quarterly Progress Reports.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Full-Time, 10-month position Summary of position: The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy. The Manville School, a highly successful and reputable educational program, is seeking an Special Education Teacher. The Special Education Teacher provides therapeutic educational services to students who exhibit a variety of emotional, behavioral, neurological, and learning disabilities that impede their ability to function within a less restrictive classroom setting. The Special Education Teacher implements evidence-based curricula, maintains data-collection systems, and utilizes instruction-driven assessments to measure student progress. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for writing and implementing the Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student in the classroom and provides mentorship to an Assistant Teacher. Special Education Teachers receive direct supervision by an educational coordinator, including formal and informal observations, weekly 1:1 meetings, and support with curriculum development. QualificationsEducation:
Bachelors required. M.Ed. in Special Education, with certification in Moderate Special Needs for grades K-12.Teaching Certification/Statement of Eligibility/or DOE Waiver is required.Experience:
1 year teaching in a school setting required or 3+ years of related experience with a similar population.Training:
First Aid/CPR and Physical Restraint trainings is required or ability to participate in annual training at beginning of employment and annually or as needed throughout tenure.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
