Special Education Teacher
  • Life Skills (grades 5-6)

Parker Middle School
General Description:
Special Education teacher for students with intellectual disabilities in grades 5 & 6. The students' programming range from partial inclusion to substantially separate. Provide direct specialized instruction for students in a small group setting. This position requires teaching and supporting a combination of functional academic skills, activities of daily living skills, social skills, communication skills and behavioral skills with a focus on fostering independence. In this role the special educator must also be able to manage support staff, work collaboratively with various service providers and oversee the scheduling of staff and students.
  • Design, supervise and implement students' IEP plans
  • Develop curriculum modifications and adaptations.
  • Participate in IEP Team meetings.
  • Write effective IEPs for students
  • Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress
  • Effectively work with a team of professionals to coordinate services
  • Consult with general education teacher and related service providers.
  • Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion.
  • Write quarterly progress reports for IEP goals that are data based on student performance.
  • Conduct academic evaluations, interpret results and write evaluation report within the timeline.
