Immediately Job Description This Special Education Teacher works in the Anchor program for students with emotional disabilities at the Ellen Garrison Building at Concord Middle School. He/she is responsible for ensuring that students get the academic and behavioral support needed to access content and curriculum. This individual is responsible for writing and following Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and for adhering to state and federal regulations. This position is for the remainder of the 2025/2026 school year and is available for the 2026/2027 school year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement district learning goals and objectives in alignment with state frameworks.
  • Provide small-group instruction to students diagnosed with moderate to severe developmental delays or emotional disabilities to ensure progress in the general curriculum.
  • Write and implement goals and objectives consistent with students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide timely and regular progress reports on student development.
  • Provide needed accommodations for student learning and testing when required.
  • Collaborate as a team member within the school building in supporting other staff members to respond to student needs for modification.
  • Establish routines and expectations within the special education program. Coordinate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure routines and expectations are consistent across different environments.
  • Facilitate the development of individual student behavior plans. Support staff in implementing behavior plans. Evaluate the effectiveness of plans and make adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain responsive lines of communication between students, families, and staff involved in the Anchor Program.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and service providers within the school to ensure that the appropriate academic and behavioral supports are in place for students in the Anchor program.
  • Support students in a variety of settings depending on student needs. Examples include the special education program, the general education classroom, and specialty classes.
  • Supervise special education assistants in maintaining a therapeutic environment and implementing behavior plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Required):
  • Active and valid MA DESE Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 License
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Ability to navigate ADA, Massachusetts law, SPED law, and district policies to ensure fidelity and compliance of IEPs and national and state law.
  • Excellent writing skills and proven success with FBAs and behavior intervention plans
QUALIFICATIONS
(Preferred):
  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience working with students with emotional disabilities
