JOB SUMMARY
Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a driven, dynamic, and experienced special education teacher to be a part of the high school instructional team. This educator is responsible for creating a classroom environment that supports all students. This candidate will bring a passion for supporting and implementing best instructional practices, wrap around student support services, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative environment. Only those candidates with a deep passion for the Sizer School mission and ready to teach in and be a part of an exemplary, innovative public middle/high school need apply.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides specialized instruction for high school students.
  • Provides inclusion support within content-area classrooms.
  • Develops and writes Individualized Education Plans in collaboration with the IEP team.
  • Manages a caseload of students with Individualized Education Plans.
  • Chairs IEP meetings (annual reviews) for students on caseload.
  • Maintains compliance with IDEA regulations.
  • Works collaboratively with Grade Level Teams to plan for instruction.
  • Completes required assessments for initial and 3 year re-evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Dedication to the Sizer School mission.
  • Knowledge of best practices in special education instruction and assessment.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and Massachusetts Frameworks.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Highly qualified to teach in the assignment area. MA DESE License with SEI Endorsement preferred. Mandatory within the first year of employment.
  • Experience working with a diverse population of students.
  • Innovative team player with abundant energy and proven history of service.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to pass CORI and National Criminal Background check
