Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by supporting educational achievement and independence. This contract opportunity is available for a credentialed teacher of the visually impaired, with both full-time and part-time schedules considered. Serving students in the Andover area, you'll work onsite in a collaborative, resource-rich environment dedicated to empowering learners.
Key Qualifications:
Current Massachusetts teaching license for Visually Impaired Teachers Active MA Department of Education (DOE) certification Successful completion of required MTELs Experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school setting highly preferred Strong communication skills and a flexible approach to adapting materials and curriculum
Primary Responsibilities:
Assess students' visual functioning and educational needs Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) focused on student strengths and areas for growth Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, adaptive technology, orientation/mobility, and self-advocacy skills Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary educational team, supporting classroom teachers and specialists Consult with families and school staff, offering guidance and strategies for accessibility and inclusion This position offers an inspiring chance to make a lasting impact by removing barriers to educational access for students with visual impairments.
