Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Passionate about supporting students with visual impairments? Here's an exciting contract opportunity to make a lasting impact in a school-based setting near Methuen, MA. This full-time or part-time position extends through June 18, 2026, offering you the chance to foster growth and independence in students who are visually impaired. All work is conducted onsite, providing a hands-on and engaging environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Current Massachusetts Department of Education licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI) Successful completion of all required MTELs Previous experience teaching or providing support to K-12 students with visual impairments (preferred) Passion for individualized instruction, accessibility, and student empowerment Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other educators Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction and support for students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and materials as needed Work closely with general and special education staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Provide orientation and mobility training, as appropriate to student needs Assist with the selection and use of adaptive technology and resources Track and document progress, preparing regular reports for families and educational teams Maintain compliance with all district, state, and federal guidelines Participate in school meetings and professional development
