Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students to thrive by providing essential support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic educational environment near Peabody, MA. This role is a contract position with full-time or part-time availability, ideal for educators passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with visual impairments. You'll be working onsite, collaborating with a dedicated team, and supporting students' academic and functional development.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher License and Massachusetts DOE certification Successful completion of required MTELs Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to create and adapt instructional materials for diverse learners Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the needs of students with visual impairments Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and ensure accessibility Assess students' progress and develop IEP goals specific to visual impairment needs Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology as needed Serve as an advocate and resource for families and the educational team Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
