Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A school district in Pittsfield, MA is seeking full-time Special Education Teachers to support students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities in substantially separate classrooms. This opportunity involves working onsite with dedicated educators serving K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade classrooms who require specialized instructional strategies and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specially designed instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with severe disabilities Provide comprehensive support for students' physical needs including toileting assistance Collaborate with RBT support staff assigned to some students on the autism spectrum, including non-verbal learners Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of student progress and behavior interventions Foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that promotes student growth and independence

Qualifications and Experience:

Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher in substantially separate classrooms Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques strongly preferred Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on specially designed instruction Comfort and competence supporting students with complex physical and cognitive needs Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
