Staff evaluation will be implemented as outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies and Procedures Handbook.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This teaching position will serve students with multiple disabilities at one of our program locations in Easton, MA for the duration of our summer program.A. INSTRUCTIONAL/DIRECT SERVICE
1. Evaluate each student's skills and develop an IEP (incorporating curriculum frameworks) based on results. 2. Able to use appropriate developmental scales, informal assessments, contextual observations and/or standardized tests to evaluate the student in contextually relevant areas. 3. Synthesize evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment. 4. Employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for accomplishing stated objectives (functional academic skills, augmentative communication skills; multisensory approach). 5. Coordinate with specialists (P.T., O.T., Speech and Language Therapist, Teacher of Visually Impaired, etc.) to provide a comprehensive service delivery program for each child. 6. Complete progress reports, annual reviews and three-year re-evaluations and other reports as needed. 7. Consult with other educators and program staff to offer curricular and environmental modifications to support diverse learning abilities. 8. Seek out and facilitate appropriate opportunities for inclusion of students in regular education classroom programs and building activities. 9. Initiate and participate in educationally related community field trips and community vocational experiences with appropriate supervision of all students. 10. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) assigned to their classroom, provide necessary training and evaluation of their job performance. 11. Act as a resource to students, parents and staff members who wish to further their understanding of learning needs 12. Frequently confer with parents regarding program, goals, and to ensure carryover of program between home and school. 13. Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.B. SUPERVISION AND TRAINING
1. Attend and participate in in-service training programs and staff development meetings as directed. 2. Learn specific teaching strategies or skills for instructing individual students when necessary.C. DOCUMENTATION, EVALUATION, AND COMMUNICATION
1. Submit all written reports, goals and objectives on a timely basis. 2. Keep student attendance, progress monitoring, and IEP's current and orderly. 3. Provide input for the development of the department, program or district budget as requested. 4. Abide by program hours and other policies as outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies and Procedures Handbook.D. HEALTH AND SAFETY
1. Respond to the needs of individual students so as to enhance their social/emotional health and personal development. 2. Respond to situations in a culturally proficient manner taking into account a whole student perspective. 3. With training, is able to apply de-escalation strategies if necessary to prevent a student from harming themselves or others. 4. Able to safely lift students up to 50 lbs independently and assist in lifting students up to 100 lbs. 5. Able to physically assist students during activities such as: toileting, personal hygiene, in/out of adaptive equipment and mechanical lifts, and other self-care tasks as needed. 6. Able to move with reasonable speed and physically assist students during any emergency drills or actual emergencies. 7. Able to safely and effectively participate in restraint training and to safely perform physical escort and restraints as needed once trained. 8. Able to safely and effectively participate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training if requested and to safely perform CPR as needed once trained.E. ETHICAL
1. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. 2. Maintain professional attitudes and productive relationships with other staff and administration. 3.
