Special Education Certification Full Job Description Statement of Duties:
Provide direct special education services to students with disabilities in a small group setting• Maintain open and collaborative communication with families and outside agencies on behalf of students.

Provide explicit instruction and/or support in reading/literacy, math, written language, life skills, and social-emotional behaviorProgress monitor student mastery of IEP goals and objectives using various assessments and data collection toolsDevelop goals for students Individualized Education Programs based on various types of data specific to the student's present levels of functioning and performanceProvide instruction of students using systematic, structured, and multisensory approaches to learningCollaborate with general education, special education, related services, and staffCoordinate student services with related service providers Administer formal and informal assessments and analyze data to inform decisions regarding IEP goals/objective, learning approaches/content and supportAccommodate and modify for student learning and support the general education teacher with the implementation of appropriate accommodations in the general education settingDevelop and maintain community based experiences for students• Direct and assign support staff as related to student activities and assignmentsAny related duties as outlined by the Principal and/or Director of Pupil Personnel Services.

The successful candidate will possess: Broad knowledge and experience of programs and services specific to students areas of eligibility (i.e. autism, academic, behavior, learning, etc.)Above average skills in collaborationExcellent skills in oral and written communicationDemonstrated ability in collaborating and supporting parents and familiesDemonstrated ability to problem solveDemonstrated understanding of inclusive educational practices including various co-teaching approachesGeneral knowledge of various formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and skillsGeneral knowledge of state and federal special education guidelines and requirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Special Education required, Master's preferred, concentration in learning disabilities preferredMassachusetts Certification of students with mild/moderate special needs or severe special needs required
