Job Description
Nurture Haven Nannies & Co.
Important:
This is a true on-call position. Shifts are offered as they arise — there are no guaranteed hours, no set schedule, and no minimum weekly commitment. You accept or decline every shift based on your own availability. This role works best as a supplement to other income or alongside flexible scheduling. About Nurture Haven Nurture Haven Nannies & Co. is a childcare agency, serving families across MetroWest, Greater Boston, and the surrounding suburbs. We partner to provide corporate backup childcare, and we staff events, family placements, and emergency coverage across our service area. Our nursing background is the foundation of everything we do — from how we vet caregivers to how we support you in the field. You're not working for a marketplace app. You're working with a clinical-standard agency that takes caregiver safety and support seriously. What the Work Actually Looks Like Shifts come in a few forms: Backup Childcare (most common) Corporate families whose regular care falls through. Typically, weekday mornings or daytime. You receive the family's details in advance, arrive at their home, and provide care for the day. These are often last-minute (24-48 hours' notice, sometimes same-day). Event Childcare Weddings, corporate events, conferences. You work as part of a team in a venue setting, supervising a group of children during the event. Usually weekend afternoons or evenings. Emergency Coverage School closures, caregiver callouts, unexpected family needs. Short notice, high impact.Honest heads-up:
If you need consistent weekly income, this isn't the right fit. If you want meaningful, professional childcare work on your own schedule — with real support behind you — this is it. What Makes This Different W-2 employment — taxes handled, workers' comp covered, no 1099 stress Oversight, real protocols, someone to call when things get complicated You set your availability — we send offers, you accept or decline, no penalties for declining Professional corporate families, consistent booking standards Paid orientation and training before your first shift Referral bonus: $50 per caregiver you refer who successfully onboards Priority consideration for permanent family placements as they arise Pay Base hourly rate is $21-$25/hour depending on experience level and shift type. Backup care and event shifts may have different rate structures. All rates are confirmed at time of offer — you always know what you're earning before you accept a shift. W-2 withholding applies to all earnings. We do not use 1099 or independent contractor arrangements. What We Need From You Non-negotiable At least 2 years of professional childcare experience (nanny, daycare, teaching, or similar) 18+ years old (21+ preferred) Reliable transportation and valid driver's license Ability to pass full background check (CORI, national criminal, sex offender registry) Comfortable with last-minute scheduling — 24-48 hour notice is common Smartphone for shift offers, communication, and digital care logs Strongly preferred Current CPR & First Aid certification (required within 30 days of hire) Experience with infants and toddlers Experience with children with special needs Early Childhood Education coursework or degree The Honest Profile of Who Thrives Here This role works best for people who have genuine childcare experience and want flexible supplemental work — experienced nannies building their schedule, parents re-entering the workforce, early childhood educators picking up extra shifts, healthcare workers, or anyone who takes child safety seriously and wants to work for an agency that does the same. If you need to be told what to do every step of the way, or if you're looking for a primary full-time position, this likely isn't the right fit.Shifts & Availability Daytime:
