General Description:
Watertown High School seeks a dynamic Medical Assisting Teacher to provide vocational training and curriculum development in accordance with the Massachusetts Health Services Career Cluster standards. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience and a passion for preparing students for careers in medical assisting.
Responsibilities :
Teach courses in Medical Assisting Essentials, Anatomy & Physiology for Healthcare, Foundations of the Healthcare Industry, Clinical Skills, Clinical Patient Care, Medical Career Development, and Capstone Project/Internship. Develop and implement rigorous, standards-based lesson plans that foster student engagement. Continuously review and improve curriculum and courses to support this Chapter 74 program. Assess student learning and adjust instruction to promote growth. Utilize industry-standard equipment and software for medical assisting. Collaborate with colleagues and administration to enhance the CTE program. Engage families and community partners in supporting student success.

Qualifications Required:
MA DESE Vocational Certification in Medical Assisting (or licensable/in-process certification). If not already licensed, must achieve passing scores on a Literacy test, the written Medical Assisting exam, and the Medical Assisting performance exam within 1 year of employment. Associate's degree or higher in Medical Assisting or related field. Minimum three years of full-time employment experience directly related to Medical Assisting.
Preferred:
SEI Endorsement preferred or obtainable within 1 year of employment. Multilingual candidates encouraged to apply, with Spanish and Portuguese language skills preferred.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
