  • West Side Academy Teacher West Springfield High School West Side Academy is a Therapeutic Day School that is part of West Springfield High School.
We are looking for a teacher with experience teaching students with Social Emotional and Behavioral difficulties. The West Side Academy teacher will provide substantially separate instruction in a small-therapeutic setting.
Duties:
  • Plan and deliver differentiated, standards-aligned instruction in mathematics to meet individual student needs
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction in a therapeutic classroom environment
  • Use academic assessment data to inform instruction and monitor progress toward IEP goals
  • Demonstrates experience using de-escalation strategies this bullet
  • Attend IEP meetings and develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students in the program
  • Implement, monitor, and adjust instructional and behavioral strategies to support student growth
  • Provide trauma-informed instruction and support
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and predictable classroom environment that promotes academic and social growth
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, coping skills, and social awareness
  • Monitor, implement, and contribute to the development of behavior support plans
  • Consult and collaborate with families/guardians and coordinate with home-based and wraparound service providers
  • Use PBIS strategies to reinforce positive behavior, teach expectations, and support skill development
  • Collaborate with clinical and behavioral staff to implement and monitor behavior support plans
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) certification in Moderate Special Needs. Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement.
Schedule:
Full-time, Mon-Fri, 35 hours per week. This position is for 10 months, during the school year.
Salary:
Per Unit A contract (salary range:$52,368
