Job Description:
The College & Career Teacher is responsible for preparing students for success beyond high school by providing engaging instruction, guidance, and support related to college, careers, and postsecondary planning. The teacher will teach a College & Career Foundations course to 9th grade students during one semester and a Senior Seminar course during the other semester. Through these courses, students will explore career interests, develop postsecondary plans, strengthen professional and academic skills, and receive support navigating the college and career readiness process. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students envision and prepare for successful futures. The role requires strong relationship-building skills, organization, and the ability to provide practical, real-world instruction that helps students connect their education to long-term goals. Topics may include career exploration, resume writing, financial literacy, college research and applications, scholarship searches, interview preparation, workplace professionalism, goal setting, and transition planning after graduation. Key Responsibilities Teach College & Career Foundations and Senior Seminar courses Support students in researching colleges, careers, training programs, and postsecondary opportunities Support students through the college application, scholarship, FAFSA, and career planning processes Help students identify career interests, strengths, and goals through reflection activities and career assessments Teach employability and professional skills such as communication, teamwork, resume writing, and interviewing Build partnerships with colleges, employers, and community organizations to support career exposure opportunities Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and school leaders to support student success and postsecondary planning Maintain accurate records related to student postsecondary plans, applications, and outcomes
