Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a positive impact on students' lives as a Special Education Teacher with a rewarding contract opportunity near Oxon Hill, MD. Two full-time positions are available to finish out the current school year, offering the chance to help students succeed in a supportive educational environment. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction to meet the unique learning needs of students with disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create individualized education programs (IEPs) and implement effective teaching strategies that foster both academic and personal growth.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for the state of Maryland Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably within a school setting Strong knowledge of current special education laws, practices, and individualized instruction techniques Capacity to manage and modify behaviors through positive reinforcement and appropriate interventions Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to students' IEP goals Assess students' progress and adapt instruction as necessary Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support student achievement Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including IEPs, progress reports, and related compliance paperwork Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment Provide guidance and support to students for both academic and social-emotional development This contract position offers an immediate start, allowing you to make a real difference during the remainder of the academic year.
