Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students with diverse needs as a contracted Special Education Teacher. Located near Upper Marlboro, MD, this opportunity is ideal for compassionate, dedicated educators ready to make a direct impact through the end of the academic year. Two full-time positions are available, offering the chance to guide and inspire students in a collaborative and resource-rich school setting.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
Valid teaching certification for Special Education (state requirements must be met) Previous experience teaching or student teaching in special education classrooms Solid understanding of developing, implementing, and tracking Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Ability to foster inclusive learning environments and differentiate instruction for diverse learners Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and staff Flexibility, resourcefulness, and a commitment to student growth
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver effective special education instruction tailored to individual student needs Write and maintain IEPs, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with best practice Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as needed Foster meaningful relationships with students, encouraging engagement and academic progress Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, challenges, and goals Participate in school meetings, trainings, and professional development as required Enjoy the opportunity to shape students' educational journeys while working within a supportive environment that values dedication and expertise.
