Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Functional Life Skills Teacher for grades K-2 to join our vibrant educational team. This role is designed for energetic educators committed to fostering independence, social-emotional growth, and essential life skills among young learners with diverse needs. You will create engaging, tailored lesson plans that promote practical skills such as self-care, communication, and daily routines, empowering students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on early childhood development while working in a supportive, inclusive environment. Duties Develop and implement dynamic curriculum plans focused on functional life skills tailored to students' individual needs and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals Deliver engaging lessons in areas such as self-care, communication, social skills, safety awareness, and daily living activities Assess student progress regularly through observations, standardized testing, and portfolio reviews to inform instruction and update IEPs accordingly Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to integrate speech therapy techniques and behavioral health strategies into daily activities Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies to create a safe learning environment Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavioral incidents, and instructional modifications in compliance with educational standards Foster strong communication with families through regular updates on student achievements and challenges while providing guidance on supporting life skills at home Skills Proven experience in classroom management within special education or early childhood education settings Strong knowledge of childhood development, literacy education, math fundamentals, and curriculum development for young learners Expertise in working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or other special needs; familiarity with IEP processes and accommodations Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and caregivers Skilled in behavioral therapy techniques, behavior management strategies, and early intervention practices Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, library services, and Montessori or preschool methodologies when applicable Proficient in proofreading educational materials and adapting curriculum content for diverse learning styles Experience working with children in private school settings or preschool environments is preferred Join us if you are eager to inspire young minds through innovative teaching methods that emphasize independence and lifelong skills.
