The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality, individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities across various grade levels.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. Conducting formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional planning. Providing direct and specially designed instruction in both resource room and inclusive settings. Collaborating effectively with general education teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents/guardians to ensure student success. Managing a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment. Maintaining thorough and accurate records and documentation. Qualifications and Skills Maine DOE Endorsement, 282 (K-8). Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. Experience with various instructional strategies and differentiated instruction techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to use data to drive instructional decisions. Commitment to ongoing professional development.
