Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aftercare Specialist to support children in a dynamic educational and recreational environment for the 26-27 school year (starting in late august/ September). The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing after-school experience for students. This role requires strong classroom management skills, experience working with children, and a passion for fostering childhood development. The Aftercare Specialist will collaborate with staff and parents to promote positive behavior, facilitate activities, and support students' social and emotional growth. Responsibilities Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Implement engaging activities that promote learning, creativity, and social interaction Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management strategies Support students with homework assistance and tutoring as needed Maintain a safe and clean environment in compliance with health and safety regulations Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and any concerns Assist with planning special events or activities aligned with educational goals Provide first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to support individual student needs Requirements Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, camp, tutoring, or similar environments Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment Experience in special education or early childhood education is preferred First aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff Ability to handle diverse situations with patience, professionalism, and compassion Background in childcare, babysitting, sports coaching, theater, or Jewish education is a plus Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to fostering a supportive environment for children CPR (We will assist) Background check
