Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher working with elementary students in grades K-2. This in-person contract role is ideal for a compassionate educator committed to helping young learners overcome challenges associated with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). You'll play a key role in fostering growth and confidence for a class of approximately 20 students, making a tangible difference each day. This position extends from ASAP through June 13th, 2026, offering a stable environment where your skills and dedication are valued. Your guidance and support can shape young lives, providing the foundation for academic and personal success from the earliest years.
Qualifications:
Valid Maine teaching license for elementary age groups Special Education Teacher certification required Experience supporting students in K-2, especially with SLD, preferred Ability to develop and modify curriculum to meet diverse learning needs Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building rapport with young children and collaborating with families and staff
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction for students with Specific Learning Disabilities in an elementary K-2 setting Create and adapt lesson plans designed to develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills Foster a safe, inclusive classroom that encourages engagement and growth Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success Monitor student progress, document interventions, and participate in IEP meetings Seize the chance to impact the lives of elementary students at a formative stage in their education.
