Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A full-time Special Education Resource Teacher position is available at a school in Wiscasset, ME, serving students in grades 3-5. This contract role is Monday through Friday and focuses on providing tailored support in reading, writing, and math to a classroom of 20 students. The teacher will also case manage 15 students, including 5 who require speech support only.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction in reading, writing, and math for a group of 20 students with diverse learning needs. Provide case management services for 15 students, coordinating with speech therapists and other specialists as needed. Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet state and federal guidelines. Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience teaching special education, preferably with upper elementary grades (3-5). Knowledge of IEP development and implementation. Strong classroom management skills and ability to address varied learning styles. Effective communication skills for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
