Teacher contract
Qualifications:
  • Must hold special education teaching certificate
  • Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher status requirements
  • Experience with learning and behavior disabilities.
  • Ability to facilitate, assign and organize paraprofessionals
  • Experience with teaching independent living skills
  • Experience with teaching remedial reading and math
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned to each student's unique needs
  • Provide individualized (1:1) and small group instruction based on student goals and learning profiles
  • Deliver targeted instruction for students with lower cognitive demands, including functional academics and life skills
  • Plan and support opportunities for students to build independence and real world skills
  • Facilitate IEP meetings with families in a supportive, collaborative manner
  • Partner with general education teachers to create meaningful inclusion opportunities when appropriate
  • Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instruction as needed
  • Support student behavior through positive supports, de-escalation strategies, and proactive interventions
  • Lead, organize, and guide a team of paraprofessionals to ensure consistent and effective student support
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Communicate regularly with families to celebrate growth and problem-solve together
  • Participate in bi-weekly Special Education team meetings focused on collaboration and support
  • Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., SLP, social worker, OT) to support the whole child
  • Create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive
  • Support additional building needs (e.g., recess supervision) as part of the school team
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives
