Teacher contractQualifications:
- Must hold special education teaching certificate
- Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher status requirements
- Experience with learning and behavior disabilities.
- Ability to facilitate, assign and organize paraprofessionals
- Experience with teaching independent living skills
- Experience with teaching remedial reading and math
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned to each student's unique needs
- Provide individualized (1:1) and small group instruction based on student goals and learning profiles
- Deliver targeted instruction for students with lower cognitive demands, including functional academics and life skills
- Plan and support opportunities for students to build independence and real world skills
- Facilitate IEP meetings with families in a supportive, collaborative manner
- Partner with general education teachers to create meaningful inclusion opportunities when appropriate
- Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instruction as needed
- Support student behavior through positive supports, de-escalation strategies, and proactive interventions
- Lead, organize, and guide a team of paraprofessionals to ensure consistent and effective student support
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Communicate regularly with families to celebrate growth and problem-solve together
- Participate in bi-weekly Special Education team meetings focused on collaboration and support
- Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., SLP, social worker, OT) to support the whole child
- Create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive
- Support additional building needs (e.g., recess supervision) as part of the school team
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives
