Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This full-time Elementary Special Education teaching position offers an opportunity to work in a self-contained classroom setting supporting up to 15 students. The assignment runs immediately through June 11, 2026, in Clinton Township, MI, within an established school district. Two paraprofessionals will assist with managing behaviors and daily needs including toileting, allowing the teacher to focus on individualized education plans in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction to elementary students in a self-contained special education classroom Manage classroom behaviors effectively while fostering a positive learning atmosphere Collaborate with paraprofessionals to support students' daily routines and needs Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) based on students' unique requirements Monitor progress and communicate with families and school staff regularly
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Education; Master's or Doctoral degree in Special Education strongly preferred Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement (strictly no substitute licenses) Certified Special Education license required Experience working with diverse student populations in an elementary setting preferred Ability to manage behaviors with sensitivity and professionalism
