Special Education Teacher - Detroit, MI ProCare Therapy - 3.9 Detroit, MI Job Details Full-time | Contract $40 - $43 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Qualifications Special Education Certification Full Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Take the next step in your education career as a Special Education Teacher in a high school setting just outside Detroit, MI. Ideal for passionate educators ready to inspire and guide students in grades 9-12, this W2 contract opportunity provides a full-time schedule—37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday—with immediate openings and potential for renewal into the next academic year. Applications are also being accepted for the 2026-27 school year.
Key Details:
Start date: ASAP; end date: June 12 (with potential contract extension) High school caseload of approximately 23 IEPs Co-teaching focus, primarily in English Language Arts and Math classrooms Collaborative environment supporting student achievement and individualized learning
Qualifications:
Valid and active Michigan Special Education Teacher certification is required Experience in a high school (grades 9-12) special education environment preferred Comfort and proven ability to manage IEP caseloads and work collaboratively with general education staff Strong adaptability and communication skills within a dynamic classroom setting Commitment to supporting diverse learning needs and fostering an inclusive educational community
Responsibilities:
Co-teach ELA and Math with general education teachers to serve students' academic and social needs Write, implement, and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for a caseload of 23 students Monitor, document, and report student progress Support classroom engagement and provide differentiated instruction Maintain effective communication with staff, students, and families
