Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the full 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity near Detroit, MI is ideal for educators with a passion for making a difference in diverse learning environments. You'll work a steady 37.5 hours per week, providing vital instruction and support to exceptional learners from August 22, 2026, through June 6, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teaching Certification Experience in developing and implementing IEPs Understanding of diverse learning needs and differentiation strategies Skilled in collaboration with colleagues, families, and support staff Strong organizational and classroom management abilities Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive environment
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver individualized and small group lessons tailored to student IEP goals Adapt curriculum materials to accommodate various learning styles and abilities Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings Cooperate with general education staff, speech and occupational therapists, and paraprofessionals Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and needs Implement behavioral intervention strategies as needed This role provides an excellent opportunity to have a meaningful impact while gaining invaluable experience in a supportive educational setting.
