Preferred Qualifications:
Certified in Early Childhood Education (ZA), Elementary K-5 All Subjects (K-8 All Subjects Self-Contained Classrooms) (ZG), or Elementary K-8 All Subjects (ZC) An endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) A Bachelor's degree with a major in a specific Special Education area, or have earned credit in coursework equivalent to that required for a major Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Position Requirements:
Ability to effectively engage young children and to model and teach strategies/interventions for students with ASD Ability to create lessons that target individual student goals as determined by their IEP team Ability to complete student progress reports and report cards Ability to maintain detailed documentation Ability to structure and organize time so as to meet required deadlines Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and online sourcing tools, with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms Ability to withstand the strain of teaching Must be reliable and punctual, with excellent work-related attendance record Such alternatives to the above requirements that the administration may find appropriate and acceptable Knowledge of child development/milestones and effective ASD strategies and teaching practices Knowledge of local, state, and federal special education laws/guidelines Knowledge of various assessment tools and the ability to administer them and interpret results Ability to create classroom schedules and plans for paraprofessionals Ability to positively and effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, students, and their families
Position Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and implement instruction to K-5 students with ASD Collect student data, make instructional decisions,and create lesson plans based on the data Work collaboratively with ancillary and auxiliary staff regarding caseload students Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings Along with the rest of the special education team, plan lessons and implement schedules that use student strengths and interests to achieve and set individualized goals Work with and guide special education and IEP team members to collect data and report student progress on report cards and progress reports. Provide ongoing coaching and consultation to paraprofessionals and other staff to build the capacity to serve students with disabilities in their Least Restrictive Environment Administer all required evaluations for students receiving services, e.g.,district and state assessments; record and submit all data within the mandated timelines Maintain regular and punctual attendance Provide all Supplementary Aids and Services as required by individual student IEPs Follow all Behavior Intervention Plans Consult with ancillary staff to address student needs Schedule and attend Problem Solving Team meetings as necessary Such alternatives to the above responsibilities that the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
