Immediately Job Description Please apply directly to Elk Rapids Public Schools Mill Creek Academy is seeking a motivated, passionate, engaged, and dedicated Elementary teacher to make a difference in our community and district. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students by fostering a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will commit to educational excellence, effective classroom management, and a collaborative approach to working with all students, colleagues, parents, and community members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. ? Provide direct specialized instruction in academic, behavioral, social, and functional skill areas. ? Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs. ? Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices. ? Conduct assessments and collect progress-monitoring data to guide instruction and report student growth. ? Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, evaluations, and eligibility determinations. ? Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation and compliance records. ? Build strong, positive partnerships with families through regular communication and collaboration. ? Support students' social-emotional development and foster independence and self-advocacy. ? Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and related service providers to ensure coordinated student support.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates should skillfully demonstrate the following competencies: ? Strong desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students. ? Ability to motivate students and influence student behaviors. ? Willingness and capacity to hold ongoing instructional-specific conversations designed to focus conversations and efforts on improving student learning. ? Commitment to coordinate instruction within and across grade levels. ? Competence to collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions. ? Ability to help create and thrive in a professional environment of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred:
? Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement (SM) ? Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field. ? Knowledge of
IDEA, IEP
development, and special education compliance requirements. ? Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills. ? Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. ? Previous classroom teaching experience and/or experience working with elementary-aged children ? Have experience working within or training in a trauma-informed school culture.
