JOB SUMMARY

Hamilton Community Schools invites dedicated educators to apply for the open position of a Part-Time Face-to-Face Virtual School Teacher. Under the supervision of the Virtual School principal, educators plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a self-contained educational environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This role is ideal for a highly qualified, versatile, and growth-minded educator who thrives in a collaborative, close-knit school community. The position includes both in-person and virtual instructional responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on engaging, real-world, and enrichment-based learning experiences. The teacher will provide in-person instruction on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., teaching enrichment and life-skills courses for students in grades 6-12. Course topics may include subjects like cooking, public speaking, debate, and "adulting" skills such as financial literacy, taxes, budgeting, renting, and post-secondary planning. In addition, this position serves as a face-to-face lab facilitator for virtual learners on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The teacher will provide a structured, quiet, and supportive environment where students can focus, stay on task, and successfully engage in their virtual coursework. Responsibilities include assisting students with navigating online platforms, troubleshooting technical or content-related challenges, monitoring progress, and providing academic support as needed. Strong math skills are essential to effectively support students across content areas, particularly in mathematics-related coursework.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are the core responsibilities required to perform this role. These duties ensure students receive appropriate instruction and support for their educational development. The teacher is also responsible for other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the district, provided such duties are consistent with the employee's certification and job responsibilities. Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established procedures. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, and use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. Develop online courses to accompany face-to-face instruction. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and provide appropriate feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Observe and evaluate student performance and development using formative and summative assessments. Work with or understand a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.
