PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree of related subject from an accredited university Valid Michigan Teaching Certification (SA, SE, SM or SV) Teacher Consultant Approval, preferred SST (Student Study Team) experience, preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to : Provide specialized, group and individualized educational instruction to Special Education students in general education through co-teaching, and in resource programs for direct instruction in areas of disability by the student's IEPs. Understand and ability and facilitate SST process. Locate, select, modify/accommodate and present individually tailored instructional materials for each student, and communicate the student's learning needs to each of his/her teachers. Manage student behaviors and maximize student engagement/achievement. Provide consultative support to the general education teachers through routinely scheduled consultation related to the progress of identified students in the resource room and general education classes. Facilitate open, continuous communication with general education staff, administrators and parents. Develop, coordinate and conduct REEDs, METs, IEPs, FBA/BIPs, MDRs and Transition Plans. Administer and translate comprehensive achievement testing for annual and three-year reevaluations with a variety of assessments including, but not limited to: WRAT, Woodcock-Johnson III. Maintain accurate and complete records, according to district policies/procedures and IDEA law. Develop and implement Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans. Attend all Special Education and building staff meetings and professional development. Adhere to policies of the Westwood Community Board of Education. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Special Education Director or Building Principal.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students Ability and patience to work interactively with students Skill in organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with improved curriculum and standards Excellent skills in verbal and written communication Ability to understand the individual needs of each student Ability to effectively use Google and the student information system � MiStar Ability to take accurate and timely attendance Ability to update grades no later than 2 days after an assignment has been given to students Ability to check and respond to email at least 3 times a day

Often the noise level in the work environment will be moderate to loud. The employee is required to interact with students, staff, parents/guardians and occasionally with the public. At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
