Job Description

Hours:
37.5 Hours Per Week, Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Position Summary:
The High School Special Education Student Support Professional provides direct assistance to students with special needs, supporting both academic and functional skill development. This position works closely with special education teachers and general education staff to ensure students receive the individualized support and accommodations necessary to succeed in the classroom and school environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide instructional support to students with special needs in individual, small-group, and classroom settings. Assist students with assignments, adaptive strategies, and skill-building activities aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Support students in developing social, behavioral, and organizational skills. Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the special education team. Assist with supervision, transitions, and daily routines to promote student independence and engagement. Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and other staff to monitor student progress and needs. Maintain confidentiality and uphold student dignity in all interactions.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred. Must have passed, or be willing to take and pass, the EST Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro Test) . Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting preferred. Knowledge of special education practices, strategies, and accommodations is a plus. Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a collaborative team to support student success.
