Position Information Posting Number SF1392P Position Title Lead Teacher for Coleman Center (ADECE B-5 Grant; full-time) Position Type Professional/Salaried Department Department of Teacher Education - Coleman Center Division College of Education and Behavioral Sciences Campus Dothan Work Status Full-Time (FT) Temporary Yes Location Dothan - D01 Job Summary The Lead Teacher position is responsible for teaching in an Infant, Toddler, or Preschool comprehensive classroom program in the Coleman Center. The Lead Teacher will either co-teach or teach independently. The Lead Teacher position reports to the Director of Coleman Center. Minimum Qualifications 1. Must be at least 21 years of age 2. Must possess one of the following degrees:
  • Human Environmental Science degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Development or Child Development
  • Early Childhood Education degree (B.S., B.A., M.A/M.S.) or completion of a bachelor's degree program leading to P-3 certification in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework.
  • Special Education degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework, or a bachelor's degree program leading to certification in Early Childhood Special Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework.
3. Experience working with children in a group format 4. Strong written and oral communication skills 5. Knowledge of curriculum and child development 6. Energetic and positive attitude 7. Ability to develop excellent working relationships Preferred Qualifications 1. Previous experience working with children in a group format in an Alabama DHR licensed child care center 2. Previous experience with Creative Curriculum and/or Conscious Discipline 3. Previous experience working with an Alabama Pre-K Grant Classroom Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility Work Hours - Standard hours of operation (7am-6pm) - Hours may be flexible, as needed, to meet the demands of the center.
