Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference for students with visual impairments by supporting their educational journeys for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract role is designed for dedicated Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who embrace collaboration, innovation, and a passion for accessibility in education. You'll work with caseloads of approximately 25-30 students, primarily with vision-related disabilities and, in some cases, additional challenges such as severe behavioral or physical needs. In this rewarding position, you'll provide direct and consultative support to students in 2-3 educational centers in the Plymouth area. Your expertise in adapting curriculum and supporting inclusive classroom environments will be crucial for student growth and achievement in a specialized setting.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI); please ensure your credentials are current and ready to present Experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities Ability to work effectively in a diverse instructional environment, including severe behavioral and physical disability settings Collaborative approach with professional staff, students, and families Excellent communication, adaptability, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and group instruction to students with vision impairments across two to three education centers Adapt learning materials for accessibility and support classroom staff with best practices Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals Maintain accurate records, progress monitoring, and communication with team members and families Participate in meetings and professional development as required This contract position offers a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, beginning in September 2026 and concluding in June 2027.
