K-12. STEP
Academy serves a student body primarily made up of first-generation Somali/East African students. As a destination school, STEP Academy ensures all students are nurtured and empowered to use their personal attributes and acquired knowledge to have the choice to participate in early college entry through the Minnesota PSEO program. STEP Academy is dedicated to the growth and development of our entire learning community: students, staff, parents, and administrators.
The Position:
STEP Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher based at our St. Paul K-12 campus. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring access to high-quality educational opportunities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role includes collaborating with general education teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement effective instructional strategies, accommodations, and interventions that promote student success and independence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Special Education teaching license Experience working with students with diverse learning needs Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds Experience working with English Language Learners (ELL) Cultural competence
Minimum Qualifications:
Any teaching license and willingness to obtain an out-of-area designation Bachelor's degree and ability to obtain a Tier 1 or Tier 2 teaching license, with willingness to work toward a higher-tier license Understanding of differentiated instruction, intervention strategies, and student support services Cultural competence
Salary:
$42,500.00 - $59,802.00 per year How to
