Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a role where you can make a real difference for young learners with emotional and behavioral needs. This contract position focuses on leading a center-based EBD (Emotional Behavioral Disorders) classroom, working with a small group of K-2 students in a supportive, high-needs environment. The position runs from late August 2026 to early June 2027 with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, allowing you to build strong relationships and offer unwavering support to students and staff.
What We're Looking For:
Active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required EBD licensure is strongly preferred Experience supporting students with significant behavioral needs Proven ability to develop and implement IEPs and BIPs Confident in classroom consultation, behavior intervention, and de-escalation strategies Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset for team-based support Experience in center-based special education classrooms for early elementary grades is an advantage Familiarity with PBIS, CPI, or restorative practices highly desirable Training or experience in trauma-informed instructional practices is a plus
Core Responsibilities:
Provide instructional leadership and hands-on classroom support Foster a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for a caseload of approximately six students Plan, execute, and document individualized education and behavior plans Collaborate with staff, families, and support professionals to ensure student success Adapt instruction and interventions in real time to meet each student's needs Imagine yourself guiding early elementary learners and collaborating with a dedicated school team, all within a supportive full-time schedule.
