Butler, Missouri Reports To:
Director of Special Services / Building Principal The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to children ages 3-5 with disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) standards. This position is responsible for planning and delivering developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Missouri Early Learning Standards, adapting curriculum and environments to meet diverse needs, and implementing evidence-based interventions to support communication, social-emotional development, adaptive behavior, and early academic skills. The ECSE teacher develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collects and analyzes data to guide instruction, and ensures compliance with all state and federal special education requirements, including timelines, documentation, and parent communication. The teacher collaborates with general education staff, related service providers, and families to support inclusive practices and student success, while also facilitating IEP meetings and contributing to multidisciplinary evaluations and eligibility determinations. Additionally, the ECSE teacher establishes a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment, implements positive behavior supports, supervises paraprofessionals, and conducts ongoing assessments to monitor student progress. The position requires maintaining accurate records, participating in professional development, and adhering to district policies and Missouri DESE Standards and Indicators. Qualified candidates hold a valid Missouri certification in Early Childhood Special Education and demonstrate strong knowledge of child development, effective instructional practices, collaboration skills, and data-driven decision-making.
