Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Special Education (SPED) Teacher specializing in Pre-Kindergarten and Elementary education within the Flathead Special Education Co-op. In this vital role, you will deliver tailored instruction and support to young children with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities such as autism, developmental delays, and speech or behavioral challenges. Your energetic approach will to develop a tageted program in a specilized small school for exceptional students to help them realize their full potential. You will collaborate closely with families, specialists, and educational teams to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring every child receives the personalized attention they deserve. Duties Develop and execute engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for preschool and elementary students with special needs. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques. Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support students' communication, social skills, and developmental progress. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor student progress and inform instructional adjustments. Implement early intervention strategies to support children with autism, developmental disabilities, or speech delays. Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual IEP goals. Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction and facilitate interactive learning experiences. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior incidents, and IEP objectives in compliance with district policies. Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, literacy education, math instruction, behavioral therapy techniques, and special education best practices. Foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes child welfare, emotional well-being, and physical activity through teaching physical education and social-emotional skills. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid state certification or licensure for special education teaching at the preschool or elementary level. Classroom experience working with children with disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder or developmental delays. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management strategies, and special education laws including IEP processes. Experience with speech therapy techniques and deaf education is highly desirable. Proficiency in classroom management tools, learning technology platforms, and curriculum development software. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with families, colleagues, and external specialists. Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with children from diverse backgrounds in early childhood settings or daycare environments. Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and assessment tools for young learners. Ability to implement behavioral health strategies and provide behavioral therapy support when needed.
