Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding educational environment where your skills supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Visually Impaired students will make a profound impact. The contract role offers both part-time and full-time scheduling options, with the possibility of combining Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) and Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) responsibilities for those seeking a full-time position.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing and/or Visual Impairments (state credentials preferred) Experience working with students who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Visually Impaired, preferably within educational settings Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs) and related documentation Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional strategies Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamRole Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with hearing and/or vision loss Adapt curriculum, create accessible learning materials, and utilize assistive technology for student success Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers to support inclusive learning environments Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and ongoing assessments Foster a positive, empowering atmosphere that encourages student independence and self-advocacy Maintain thorough records and communicate progress with families and staff Enjoy working in a supportive and mission-driven community where your expertise is valued.
