Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of middle school students by working in a focused, supportive environment as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, contract opportunity spans from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with consistent hours Monday through Friday, 7:15am - 3:15pm. You'll support a self-contained caseload of 12 students identified with mild to moderate disabilities, fostering social, emotional, and academic growth.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification (must meet state requirements for teaching in special education settings) Experience in self-contained or resource classroom environments Strong behavior management and individualized instruction skills Ability to develop and implement IEPs for students with mild to moderate needs Skilled in collaboration with related service providers, parents, and general education staff Adept at maintaining well-organized records and timely required documentation
Role Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and interventions tailored to students' individualized goals Develop, monitor, and implement IEPs according to state and federal laws Utilize evidence-based methods to support academic and functional skill development Create a classroom environment promoting inclusion, empathy, and positive behavior Track student progress, communicate updates with stakeholders, and adjust strategies as needed Collaborate with colleagues to ensure access to general curriculum and related services Participate in team meetings, staff development, and family conferences Perks to
