Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) to serve K-12 students within a supportive school district in Jacksonville, NC. This itinerant position involves working throughout the district, delivering specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The role offers a collaborative environment where teamwork and professional growth are priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction and support to K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement effective educational plans. Conduct assessments and monitor student progress to tailor instructional strategies. Facilitate communication access and advocate for student needs within the school community. Participate in professional development and team meetings as part of a supportive, collaborative district team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certification or licensure in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families. Ability to work independently while managing an itinerant caseload across multiple schools. Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments.
